Marilyn Marie Brookhart's Obituary
Marilyn Brookhart, age 81, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Earnest and Margaret (Scott) Morrison, and raised by her grandmother, Rose Morrison near Bunch, Iowa. She received her education in the Drakesville Community Schools at Drakesville, Iowa. On July 29, 1949, Marilyn was united in marriage to Willard 'Bill' Brookhart in Centerville, Iowa. She worked for a time at the local Foundry, and later was a Housekeeper at Motel 60 in Centerville. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Willard Brookhart on October 1, 1995; sons, Michael and Billy Brookhart; brothers, Dever and Lowell Scott; sisters, Vera Scott and Patty Robertson; son-in-laws, Mike Starr and Milton Sumpter.Marilyn is survived by: her son, William Brookhart and his wife, Shelly of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, MaryLou Strickler, Donna Starr and Rebecca Crane and her husband, Lenny all of Centerville, Iowa; brothers, Daul and Danny Scott both of Bunch, Iowa; sisters, Marita Eakins of Drakesville, Iowa and Carolyn Curtis of Centerville, Iowa; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great great- grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Mark Waits officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery east of Exline, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 2 pm until 8 pm and the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Taylor Hospice House and left or mailed to the funeral home.
