Marilyn Anderson's Obituary
Marilyn Anderson, age 81 of Promise City, served her last table at 1:00AM Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Marilyn was born on March 28, 1935 in Plano, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Vera (Flattery) Hoffman. She was a graduate from Cincinnati High School. After graduation, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Dick Miller on March 18, 1954. To this union, five children were born. They later divorced. On May 31, 1986, Marilyn was united in marriage to Richard Anderson in Unionville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2008.
She worked for many years as a waitress at the Green Circle, Blue Bird, and Manhattan Steak House. After Richard passed away, Marilyn decided in 2009 to move to Promise City with her daughter Debbie, where she enjoyed working in the yard and feeding her birds.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Susan (Gary) Jacobs of Derby, Iowa, Dixie Rodgers of Marshalltown, Iowa, Debbie Gavronsky of Promise City, Iowa, Tom Miller of Marshalltown, Iowa, Phillip Miller of Marshalltown, Iowa; her siblings, Katie Roberts of Des Moines, Iowa, Pat Willingham of Numa, Iowa, Wayne Hoffman of Centerville, Iowa; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and thirty nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Vera Hoffman; her husbands, Dick Miller in 1996 and Richard Anderson in 2008; siblings, Michael Hoffman, Wendell Hoffman, Dorothy Newell, Betty Winner, and Donna Fowler.
A visitation will take place from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Father Mark Yates officiating. A Rosary service will be conducted during the funeral service. Memorials have been established to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
