Marie Annette Tubbs' Obituary
Marie Annette Tubbs, Annette to everyone who knew her, 66, of Centerville, Iowa passed away September 3, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Annette was born October 17, 1956 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dick and Prudy Baze. She grew up in Chariton, Iowa, where she graduated with the class of 1975.
Following her graduation, Annette moved to Centerville and was united in marriage to her childhood friend David Tubbs on August 2, 1975. David and Annette grew up together and were the best of friends. Throughout their years living in Centerville, they were rarely seen apart from each other.
Annette worked for the Centerville Community Schools as a teacher's aide for 30 years and was loved by everyone she met.When the ceramic shop was open, Annette loved to make ceramics, was a member of the Xi ETA Chi sorority, and when the kids were older and they were retired, she and David loved to go to the casinos.
Annette's granddaughter Alyssa was her pride and joy. When Alyssa decided to barrel race, Dave and Annette became her biggest fans, always traveling to watch her compete, fixing meals, and they soon became part of the barrel racing family.Annette was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and always kept up on the Centerville Big Reds, always congratulating students and their parents on their accomplishments.
Everyone who knew Annette loved her. Annette had a huge heart and was willing to go out of her way to help anyone who needed it. Annette became an honorary grandma to many children throughout her life.
Left to cherish Annette's memory are her husband of 48 years, David Tubbs; her children, Heather (Blayne) Wright and Jeromy (Amy) Tubbs; her granddaughter, Alyssa Tubbs and her fiancé, Saban Goodson; brothers, Todd (Jill) Baze and Tom Baze; many nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters-in-law, Carla Brown (Mike) and Bev (Brian) Gustafson; her brothers-in-law, DeWayne (Maryanne) Richards and Richard Tubbs; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Prudy Baze.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM.
