Marie Maxine Stansberry's Obituary
Marie Stansberry, age 83, of Moulton, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her home near Moulton. She was born the daughter of Howard and Freda Ellon (Gordon) Trimble on January 16, 1933 near Moulton, Iowa. She graduated from the Moulton High School in 1951. On June 22, 1955, Marie was united in marriage to Marvin J. Stansberry in Moulton, Iowa. Marie was a hard worker all her life. She took pride in caring for her animals and her farm. Marie enjoyed babysitting as she raised her kids and grandkids. Many local children had the pleasure of spending their days on the Stansberry farm, where they got to experience her delicious meals and rural farm life. Marie also worked in Moulton for several businesses, including Gas & More, the Moulton Locker, Konvenience Korner and T&L Grocery. She enjoyed her time at these places, where her favorite part was getting to visit with all the local people. Marie's joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Marie was also a member of the Moulton United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Marvin Stansberry on August 9, 1994; daughter, Connie Spurgeon on December 26, 1990; sisters, Ola Mae Davis and Helen Trimble; and a brother in infancy. Marie is survived by: her son, Brian Stansberry of Moulton, Iowa; step-son, John Stansberry and his wife, LuJean of Norwalk, Iowa; a sister, Jackie Dean of Coatsville, Missouri; grandchildren, Michael Spurgeon and his wife, Jody of Moulton, Iowa, Alicia Burgher and her husband, Beau of Moulton, Iowa and Nathan Spurgeon and his wife, Tasha of Cincinnati, Iowa; along with nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Steve Houser officiating. Burial to follow in the Hilltown Cemetery south of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of services at the funeral home in Centerville. Memorials can be made to either the Moulton First Responders or Hilltown Cemetery and can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
