Marie Helton's Obituary
Marie (Witt) Davolt Helton was born December 2, 1918 in rural Bucklin, Macon County, Missouri to Alvon and Mary Witt. Marie was the first child born to their union, but joined two half brothers and a sister; Albert Witt, Lora Lucas, and W.O. Bud Lucas. John and Bobbie were also born to Mary and Alvon. Marie passed in the early morning hours on December 16, 2008, reaching the age of ninety years, fourteen days. She had suffered a slight heart attack in October of 2008 and had been in failing health since that time. She passed at her residence at the Golden Age Manor.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Garland Helton. She is survived by three children, Phyllis (Fred) Madorin of Ferguson, Missouri, Robert (Jeannie) Davolt of St. Louis, Missouri and Ron (Linda) Davolt of Centerville, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jeannie) Madorin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Alvin Madorin of Edwardsville, Illinois, Elizabeth Madorin of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Jeffery (Anabel) Davolt of Fenton, Missouri, Michele (Mike) Alberternst of Warrenton, Missouri, Christopher (Diana) Davolt of Centerville, Iowa and Amanda (Jonathan) Mathews of Centerville, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins living in the Bucklin area.
Marie always loved the farm life and to working in the garden. She was happy to have her hands in the black top soil of Missouri, and God rewarded her with beautiful results of her labor. She also had a passion for oil painting and in earlier years she painted farm scenes with majestic oak trees and beautiful old barns. The old style red barn was also a passion for her; she would be saddened when she saw one that had not been taken care of and was in disrepair.
Marie was a women of strong faith in God and her family. She was very proud of her family history and where she came from in rural Missouri. God and her religion gave her the strength to manage her daily life and the troubled times of losing her mother, father, sister, brothers and husbands. Her faith made her a very giving women, and she was always trying to take care of others. She will be missed by those whose lives she had touched. God had blessed her and has taken her home. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Renshaw Funeral Chapel in Bucklin, Missouri. Burial will follow at the Bucklin Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral chapel Tuesday prior to the services with family present from 10-11:30 AM. A memorial has been established to Ozark Berry Children Baptist Home Hutcheus Campus in Mt.
