Margaret Ilene Walter's Obituary
Margaret Eileen Walter, age 92, passed away February 10, 2015 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville surrounded by family.
She was born November 2, 1922 to Harold and Alice Spring in Udell, Iowa. Margaret graduated from Udell Schools in 1938.
On February 1, 1942 she married Merle (Mickey) Bronson. They moved to the west coast where their four children were born. During the early 50's, Margaret worked at the naval bases Port Hueneme and Point Mugu in California as a secretary. They moved back to Iowa in 1962. Margaret started working for the U.S. Postal Service and was postmaster in Udell for many years. After Mickey's death in 1978 she continued to work as Udell postmaster until 1983. It was that year that she married Frank Riggs, her former pastor from California. They moved to Amarillo, Texas where they made their home for the next fifteen years.
After Frank's death in 1998 Margaret returned to Moravia, Iowa to be closer to her family. In 2004 she met and later married Ivan Walter. In January 2015 they celebrated ten years of marriage.
Margaret was a faithful and active church member her entire life and was currently a member of the Unionville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first two husbands; an infant daughter; brothers, Lionel and Alvin Spring; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Spring.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Ivan; four children, David (Susan) Bronson of Riverton, Wyoming, Elaine (Dan) Hargrave of Centerville, Iowa, Kathy (Tony) Harris of Arkansas City, Kansas and Les (Karen) Bronson of Unionville, Iowa; also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Spring; nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, her body was cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Unionville Baptist Church, Unionville, Iowa. Online condolences may be shared at www.langefh.com.
