Margaret Ruth Krusel's Obituary
Margaret Ruth Krusel, age 90, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Margaret Ruth was born on April 7, 1930 in Moravia, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Burns) Thompson. She graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1948. She valued education and graduated in 1959 from the Open Bible College in Des Moines. Throughout her adult life, she took classes at DMACC.
Right after high school, Margaret Ruth worked for a brief period of time at St. Josephs Hospital in Centerville. In the early 1950s, she was employed for 2 years at the Osceola hospital as a nursing assistant. She then moved to Des Moines, and worked at Des Moines General Hospital. Margaret Ruth took a job at Hillside Convalescent Center in Des Moines, and worked there for over twenty years. After receiving business school training at DMACC, she worked for the State of Iowa performing clerical duties. In the late 1990s, she worked as a receptionist at Ameris Bank. During this time, she met Benjamin Wencil Krusel. The couple was married on December 8, 2001 in Des Moines. It should be noted that Margaret Ruth never drove to work, she always walked.
Margaret Ruth and Ben raised goats in Mystic for some time. She loved her cats and goats. She also enjoyed gardening. Margaret Ruth was a devout Christian and is at peace now in Jesus arms.
Left to cherish Margaret Ruths memory are her siblings, Mildred (Herschel) Kelley of Moravia, Donald Thompson of Urbandale, Dale Thompson of Marshfield, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Margarets husband, Ben Krusel passed away shortly after her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mary Thompson; an infant brother, Stanley Paul Thompson; brothers, David Thompson, Russel Deverre Thompson, and Kenneth Dwight Thompson; and a sister, Mary Salter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 13, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Josh Davenport officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 10-11 AM. A memorial has been established to the Unionville, Iowa Cemetery and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
