Mardeena L. White's Obituary
Mardeena White, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of R.C. 'Dick' and Flossie (Turner) Wilson on August 26, 1923 near Moravia, Iowa. She graduated from the Moravia High School and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.For six years she taught school in the Moravia and the Moulton Public Schools. On June 20, 1948, Mardeena was united in marriage to Edward White, Jr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, Janice and Terry were born. Mardeena and her husband owned and operated the Brown Basket in Centerville for over 40 years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, in Moravia and Centerville Chapters. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Edward White, Jr. on November 19, 1989; two brothers, Trenton Wilson and Jay Wilson.Mardeena is survived by: her daughter, Janice Goodwin and her husband, Lyle of Ottumwa, Iowa; her son, Terry White and his wife, Kathy of Cumming, Georgia; three grandsons, two granddaughters; two sister-in-laws, Doris and Lois Wilson of Moravia, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be open from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home on Friday, March 8, 2013.Memorials can be made to Moravia First Responders and left or mailed to the funeral home.
