Marcella Cobb's Obituary
Marcella Marie Cobb, 89, of Allerton, passed away on September 2, 2018 at Corydon Specialty Care. Marcella was born on December 18, 1928 to Robert and Lois (Clark) Elder near Clio, Iowa. She was later joined by one brother, Maurice Elder. Marcella attended country school near Clio and then lived in Corydon with her Grandma in order to attend Corydon High School; graduating with the class of 1947. While attending high school, she took her teacher training and received her certificate in December of 1946. Marcella then went on to teach for one year. On her birthday in 1947, Marcella married Maurice Cobb and to this union, two sons were born. The family lived and farmed near Allerton for several years. Marcella enjoyed farming, gardening, sewing, quilting, dancing and following school events in which her children and grandchildren participated in. Marcella is survived by her children: Duane (Karen) Cobb and Jerry (Kim) Cobb; grandchildren: Sam Cobb, Josh Cobb, Sunny Townsend, Kelli McClintock and Kristi Cobb; great grandchildren: Hunter, Jakson, Grayce, Cooper, Harper, Zoey, Trakker, Daphne, Audrey, Charlotte and Asher; sister-in-law, Irene Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice in 2008; grandson, Jerry Cobb, Jr.; brother, Maurice Elder; brother-in-laws: Darrell Moore and Lewis Cobb and her sister-in-laws: Wilma Cobb Dix and Helen Elder Rockhold. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September, 25, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Allerton Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home.
