Manilla Boyer's Obituary
Manilla Ethel Boyer age 87 of Centerville died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
Manilla was born August 13, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Cecil (Espy) O'Connor in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School. Manilla married Carl Boyer June 4, 1939 in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1976. She taught school for a short time and was a cook for several years at the Davis County Home in Bloomfield, Iowa. Manilla enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading the Bible, going to church groups and traveling. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She attended the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Manilla is survived by four children, Karen (Jim) Gosnell of Blairstown, Iowa, Ronald (Lori) Boyer of Moravia, Iowa, Beth (Al) Pospisil of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rick (Tammy) Boyer of Stanton, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and two siblings, Enid Walker and Norris O'Conner both of Centerville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Kenneth O'Conner, and a sister, Marjorie Paxston.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastors Randy Pospisil and Kevin Albertson officiating. Friends may call all day Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. Burial will be in the Main Station Cemetery, Moravia, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church, Bloomfield or First Baptist Church, Centerville and may be mailed or left at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S 18th St, Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
