Mamie Agnes George Obituary's Obituary
Mamie A. George was born August 18, 1916 to Homer Dewitt Linville and Mable Davis Linville on their family farm in Lucas County, Iowa. She passed away March 4, 2010 at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 16 days. Mamie attended country school at Liberty #4. During her freshman and sophomore years she and her two older sisters drove a Model T Ford to Russell through mud, snow, and ice. She worked for her board and room with the Wilson family during her junior and senior years, graduating in 1934. She was united in marriage to Lee George on July 17, 1938. To this union four children were born. They lived on the family farm near Bethlehem from 1938 to 1967. She enjoyed tending to the newborn animals each spring, bringing home just hatched chicks to raise, gardening and being outdoors. They moved to Corydon in 1967. She did babysitting, gardening and cleaned homes and offices. She moved to Murphy's Place in 2006 following her husband's death. Survivors include one son Phillip (Virginia) Corydon, two daughters, Etta (Bo) Grismore of Sun City West, Arizona, Eileen (Jay) Milner of Carlisle, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Thomas and wife Cristy, Jeff and wife Carrie, Chris and wife Heather, Alan and wife LuzMarina, Sherri and husband Terry, Daniel, Brigid, Shelly and husband Steve, Elmer III (Tray) and wife Andrea, Darby and wife Bailey and twenty-two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mamie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Lee, son Lyle, great grandson Ryan, two sisters Louise Relph Dorothy Collins and two brothers Richard Linville and Larry Linville.
