Major Howard Cross' Obituary
Major Howard Cross, age 72, left this world on May 14, 2025. He was born to Joe and Roberta Cross on April 22, 1953. He graduated from Wayne Community in 1971.
His main jobs were working at Young Radiator in the 80's until they closed. He then went to work at Smithfield until he retired.
He was joined in marriage to Anita Fry on December 31, 1981. The family grew to include grandkids and great-grandkids.
There are endless stories and memories to be told by family and friends that will carry on and probably get bigger. The "Big One" that got away. Share the memories.
He passionately enjoyed hunting, fishing and running dogs from an early age. These activities were taught to his son, Billy Joe, so young that the diaper bag was included.
The loss of Major's son, Billy Joe, weighed on his heart. Their loss will be etched in our hearts forever. They are reunited now. Enjoy the fishing on heavenly shores.
Major's wife, Anita and daughter, Tanya, were by his side for the last month, holding his hand to the end. You will be missed and remembered.
Major is survived by his wife, Anita Cross; father, Joe Cross; daughter, Tanya Odom (Russell O'Brien); granddaughter, Trinity Demry (Nathan McClain) and Sierra O'Brien; grandson Zackary Cross, great-granddaughters, Ava McClain and Oaklyn O'Brien.
He was preceded in death by his mother Roberta Cross and son, Billy Joe Cross.
A visitation for Major will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Thomas funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa. Memorials maybe made to EveryStep Hospice and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home 303 E.
