Madelyne Furlin's Obituary
Madelyne Furlin, 79 of Centerville died Friday at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born on July 12, 1925 to Luther and Hulda (Crawford) Shankster in Centerville, Iowa. Madelyne received her education at Centerville Schools. She married Leo J. Furlin on December 5, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri. Madelyne was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, AMVETS Auxiliary and was on her Class Reunion Committee of 1944.
Madelyne is survived by her spouse Leo of Centerville and three sons: Gene and his fiancee Velma Meinsma of Dubuque, John Jr. and his wife Darcy of Kellogg, Idaho and James and his wife Millie of San Antonio, Texas, 10 grandchildren, brother Dale Shankster of Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Gina Furlin, 7 brothers and sisters, Ralph, Roy, George and Luther Shankster, Pearl Ellis, Bernice ""Dutch"" Maclaren and Velma Bailey.
Her body was cremated and their will be a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday August 18, 2004 at Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. A memorial has been established which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th Street Centerville, Iowa 52544.
