Mabel Lucille Moore's Obituary
Mabel Lucille Moore, age 80, of Melrose, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Lester and Rilla (True) Sager on April 8, 1930 near Seymour, Iowa. She graduated from the Seymour Community Schools in 1948 and was inducted into the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame in 1964.On October 23, 1949, Mabel was united in marriage to DeWayne Moore in Seymour, Iowa. She was a homemaker, a 4-H Leader for several years, an Iowa Master Homemaker and was very active in both the Iowa Farm Bureau and First Baptist Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents and a sister, Ruth Smith.Mabel is survived by: her husband, DeWayne Moore of Melrose, Iowa; sons, Chuck Moore and his wife, Connie of Melrose and Russ Moore and his wife, Stacy of Melrose, Iowa; one daughter, Jan Carney and her husband, Mike of Centerville, Iowa; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads Cemetery near Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 2 pm until 8 pm and the family will be present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the Little Flock Chapel, the Crossroads Cemetery or First Baptist Church and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
