Lyle Beavers' Obituary
Lyle Beavers, 81, of Corydon passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Wayne County Hospital after a courageous 26 year battle with cancer. Lyle was born to Lester & Mildred (Myers) Beavers on March 23, 1935 in Leon, Iowa. He was raised on a farm and attended country school in Woodland, Iowa. He later graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1953. He attended Central College before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he was stationed overseas for four years. Upon returning to the states he married Carolyn Muilenburg on August 15, 1964 and to this union their children, Dawn and Darren were born. They later divorced. He then married Ruthanne Hoelting and helped raise three stepsons (Billy, Keith, and Aaron). After this divorce he spent the remainder of this life focusing on his faith, family, and friends. Lyle had great love for his family. He was especially proud of his children and their accomplishments. His grandchildren always held a special pace in his heart. Lyle was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Lyle was a man of great faith and an active member of the First Baptist Church. He was never one to sit still and a man of many trades. Lyle served the community by owning or working at several local businesses. He was the most known for his cooking. Many people will say he had the best pizza in town. He loved working side by side with his children at their steakhouses. He was also a devoted employee of Wayne Community Schools. His warm and generous smile would greet every student as they came through the school lunch line. Lyle gave much of his time mentoring as he saw potential in everyone and wanted them to succeed. Lyle was known for cheering on the Wayne Falcons, swinging and/or throwing a club on the golf course, working in his garden, meticulously attending to his flowers, watching his Iowa State Cyclones, turning pieces of furniture into works of art, working on his farm raising shorthorn cattle and being involved in the Wayne County 4-H. One of his proudest achievements was when his steer "Otis" placed well at the Iowa State Fair. He was also very honored to be selected as the Homecoming Parade Marshall. Another one of Lyle's wonderful achievements that he was too humble to boast about "except to his golf buddies" were his TWO hole in ones on the Corydon Golf Course. Lyle was a true friend to the young and old. He will be deeply missed by all who had the great privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in all the lives he has touched.
