Lydia Stella Susin's Obituary
Lydia Stella Susin, age 81 of Numa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville.
Lydia was born on December 26, 1934, the daughter of Ray and Inez (Robinson) Strode. In 1953, Lydia was united in marriage to John "Neno" Susin. From this union, four children were born, Teresa, John, Larry and Jerry.
She was a waitress at the Smoke Shop for many years. She loved to cook, especially baking. She also enjoyed playing pitch and crossword puzzles. Moreover, Lydia was a caregiver by nature. She would take in anyone, and make sure they were clothed and fed. All of her children and grandchildrens friends and the entire town of Numa were all her grandchildren as well. She always made sure everyone around her was fed and loved in her own little way. Every year, people would drive for miles on Halloween to get a popcorn ball from her.
Lydia is survived by her children, John Anthony Susin of Numa, and Jerry Dean Susin of Numa; grandchildren, Keena Mason, Nicole Repp, Neely McGrann, John Susin, Carrie Weishaar, Cameron Crow, Katrina Susin, Jacob Susin, and Josh Susin; great grandchildren, McKenzie Mason, Belle Weishaar, Adalynn Weishaar, Teresa Branson, Seth Mason, Dalton McGrann, Aazilynn Felix, Grayson Felix, Ethan Susin, Mark Susin, Jayla Susin, Mathew Jones, Jon "Neno" Mason, and Jasper Sias; her sister, Betty Huber; several nieces and nephews; all of her honorary grandchildren; as well as the whole town of Numa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neno; her children Larry and Teresa; 11 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 10AM, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Numa Cemetery with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. A visitation will take place on Monday, October 17, 2016 with family present from 6-8PM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Family of Lydia Stella Susin, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544.
