Luetta Louise Sebolt's Obituary
Luetta Sebolt, age 65 of Mystic, Iowa, departed this earthly life on November 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville after a fighting a courageous battle against cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family as the Lord welcomed her home. Luetta Louise Hart was born the daughter of Herbert and Maurietta (White) Hart on October 18, 1945 in Centerville. She was raised on the family farm, and took great pleasure out of riding horses, helping her mother sew and learning to garden. She accepted the Lord as her Savior on June 21, 1953, and continued serving Him throughout her entire life as a member of Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church where she played piano and sang with the choir, not to mention leading and assisting with many other church activities through the years. Luetta met the love of her life, Marvin Ray Sebolt, at Seymour High School where she graduated with the Class of 1964. Marvin and Luetta were forever joined in marriage on June 6, 1965 in a beautiful ceremony at the People's Baptist Church in Centerville where Luetta wore a gown lovingly handcrafted by her mother for the occasion. The couple lived in Centerville where Marvin worked for Union Carbide and Luetta worked for Centerville National Bank. Later, they would settle in Des Moines and near Liberty Center, Iowa while Marvin worked in Des Moines and Luetta was a homemaker, devoted wife and doting mother. In 1975, the couple moved their family to the farm where they have since resided near Mystic, Iowa. They farmed and cared for their parents, children and grandchildren and enjoyed one another's constant love and support throughout the years. Luetta's greatest love was her family. Her happiness was wrapped-up in watching her husband, children and grandchildren succeed and share in their joys. She rarely missed a ballgame, concert, award banquet, beauty pageant, gymnastic competition, cattle show, or dance recital - and often would attend several events in one day just to make sure she didn't hurt anyone's feelings or miss out on a big moment for one of her kids or grandkids. She loved each of them with her whole heart, and wrapped each one in a special "hug and back pat" at the door when she greeted them at her home. Her boys and her girls were a great source of pride, and she bragged often of their accomplishments - big and small.Luetta went to work for Wal-mart of Centerville in 1998. She was blessed to have a â??work family' whom she cared for and was cared for in return so deeply. Throughout her nine-month battle with cancer, her Wal-mart family never forgot to send ca ring cards, flowers, food, phone calls and visits, or stop a family member to ask "What can we do for Luetta this week?" whenever they were shopping in the store. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, fixing hair, sewing, flowers, gardening and in the past few years, had also enjoyed the company of her basset hound Lacy. She was always one to do more for others than to ever do for her herself, and she will be so dearly missed by all who have been so blessed to have been touched by her in this life.Luetta is survived by: her husband, Marvin Sebolt of Mystic, Iowa; sons, Kevin and Carla Sebolt of Udell, Iowa and Todd and Mendy Sebolt of Centerville, Iowa; grandchildren Brettany, Levi, Trevor, Libby, and Karsyn Sebolt; a brother, Larry and his wife, Edie Hart of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; an aunt, Meda of Davenport, Iowa; brother-in-law,Curtis and Donna Sebolt of Numa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sharon Sebolt Vogel of Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was preceded in death - but welcomed into eternal life - by her parents Herbert and Maurietta Hart; mother and father-in-law Mabel and Clifford Sebolt; and brother-in-law, Neil Sebolt.A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Revs. Terry Chapman and Mark Dye officiating.
