Lucreta Porter's Obituary
Lucreta Porter, age 91, formally of Mystic died Monday evening, January 15, 2007 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab.
Lucreta was born February 13, 1915, the daughter of Earl and Rene (Holder) Booth in Mystic, Iowa. Lucreta married Robert Bruce Porter on December 23, 1935 in Centerville, IA. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1995. Lucreta loved knitting, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and was a beautiful violin player. She was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Mystic Chapter.
Lucreta is survived by two children; Michele Jeanie (Kenny) Valentine of Harvey, IA and Robert Bruce ""Butch"" (Bev) Porter Jr. of Centerville, IA, six grandchildren; Lee (Brenda) Valentine of Peculian, MO, Mike (Linda) Valentine of Centerville, IA, Courtney Porter of Des Moines, IA and fiance Bill, Blake (Brittney) Porter of Port Allen, LA, Mariah Porter of Centerville, IA and Michelle (Scott) Bartholomew of Washington, IA, four great grandchildren; Stacey (Ryan) Climie of Numa, IA, Shannon (Daniel) Robinson of Mystic, IA, John Valentine of Peculian, MO, and Chris Valentine of Peculian, MO, one sister; Vera Lampkin of Centerville, IA and a half brother; Bill Booth of Centerville, IA. Lucreta was preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Rene Booth and her husband; Robert Bruce Porter.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the Highland Cemetery with Pastor Lloyd Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held all day Friday, January 19, 2007 with family present from 6-7 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A memorial has been established to the Highland Cemetery Association and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.
