Lucinda "Gladys" Tharp's Obituary
Lucinda 'Gladys' Tharp, age 87, of Ottumwa, IA, a former resident of Bloomfield and Moulton, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, IA. She was born the daughter of Samuel and Lillian May (Gaither) Nevins on January 3, 1916 in Higbee, Missouri. She received her education at the Ottumwa Community Schools.On June 3, 1933, Gladys was united in marriage to Pearl Austin Tharp in Lancaster, Missouri. She was a homemaker and a member of the Moulton United Methodist Church.Gladys was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Pearl on April 26, 1979; brothers, Carl, Charles, Ralph, Robert, Donald, George and Richard Nevins; sisters, Martha Millard, Ruth Andrews, Helen Worth, and Evelyn Nevins.She is survived by: daughters, Donna Burns and her husband, Kendall of Ottumwa, Iowa and JoAnn Clancy and her husband Bill of Largo, Florida; sons, John S. Tharp and his wife, Betty and Gary L. Tharp all of Bloomfield, Iowa; 8 granchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Steve Houser officiating. Burial will be held at the Hardin Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Public visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004 from 2:30 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton.
