LUCILLE MAXINE THATCHER Obituary's Obituary
Lucille Maxine (Bailey) Thatcher, daughter of Frank Bailey and Eva (Halfhill) Bailey, was born August 28,l915, at the home of her Grandpa Jess Bailey in Osceola, IA. Her daddy Frank was so proud of this little girl that he held and kissed her all through that night and when morning came she had whisker burns on her face. Lucille went to be with the Lord August 7, 2014 at the age of 98 years 11 months and 10 days at the Corydon Nursing and Rehab Center, where she had resided for 2 years. Lucille was a farm girl and went to White School south of Allerton as a child. She took singing and piano lessons as a child and music has always been a big part of her life. During her high school years she left her childhood home and moved into Corydon where she lived in the home of a Mrs. Brown so she could attend school there. At the age of 16 she was bed ridden with Rheumatic Fever for one year and unable to attend school. After her illness she continued her education and graduated from Corydon High School on May 18, l934. On May 17, 1934 Lucille was united in marriage to Dale Andrew Thatcher in Unionville, MO. To this union four children were born, Marilyn, Stanley, Stephen and Cheryl. Lucille lived and farmed with Dale in Wayne County until moving to Allerton in 1984. She loved the farm and especially in the spring when she could order baby chicks and put in a garden. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Some of her favorite times were when everyone would come to their home and she could cook a large meal for them. It would most always end with her at the piano playing and singing some of her favorite songs. Lucille accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the Allerton Baptist Church in late 1960's. She would often say when asked about the Bible, 'All you need to know is; For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her husband's parents, three brothers Glen, Merle and Gail Bailey and many more loving family members too numerous to name. She is survived by her children; Marilyn and husband Garold Warren of Batavia, Stan Thatcher and wife Virginia of Baxter, Steve Thatcher and wife Janis of Arispe and Cheryl and husband Kurt Becker of Corydon, brother Doyle Bailey and wife Francis of Centerville, sister Aileen and husband John Bevan of Loves Park, IL.
