Louise Wakefield's Obituary
Louise Wakefield, age 95, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center's Long Term Care in Centerville. She was born the daughter of John and Kathryn (Koziol) Shulski on February 9, 1912 in Mystic, Iowa. She graduated from the Mystic Community Schools in 1929. On August 17, 1929, Louise was united in marriage to Glen Wakefield in Mystic, Iowa. She worked at the Mystic Sentinel and Centerville Iowegian newspaper and was a clerk at both the East End Grocery and West End Grocery both in Mystic, and also a clerk at the Ben Franklin Store in Centerville. Louise was a wonderful mother and grandmother and always showed her love for her family. She liked to garden, and plant flowers. She crocheted afghans and doilies for her family, and always had cookies or something good for them to eat when they visited. She was a hard worker and would help anyone if she could. She was an avid book reader, especially after she became a resident of Long Term Care. Louise will be greatly missed by her family, who has many great memories of her. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Glen Wakefield on May 29, 1992; brothers, William Shulski and John Shulski; sister, Stella Rowe; son-in-law, Edward Haver.Louise is survived by: her son, Richard Wakefield and his wife, Marianne of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Betty Haver of Moravia, Iowa and Carole Patterson and her husband, Carl of Champaign, Illinois; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Ron Will, CPPS officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery near Mystic, Iowa.
