Lorraine Whitehead's Obituary
Lorraine Whitehead, age 93 of Indianola, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Windsor Manor in Indianola, Iowa. She was born the daughter of W.H. and Hazel (Badger) Moore on July 12, 1926 near Moulton. She graduated from Moulton high school in 1943 and attended Centerville Junior College. Lorraine was a school teacher in rural Appanoose and Davis County for ten years. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. On March 6, 1955, Lorraine was united in marriage to Donald Whitehead at the Moulton United Methodist Church with the Reverend Richard Bentzinger officiating. She was a member of the Iconium Methodist Church where she was on the Church Board and was active in the U.M.W. Lorraine was also a member of the Chapter 7 - P.E.O. of Moulton and the Appanoose County Farm Bureau Women's Group as well as Moravia Music Booster's. She loved her home, her children, grandchildren, and her church. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 21, 1998, daughter Betsy in infancy, a sister Lavelle Tharp, brother Lowell Moore, a daughter Susan Howard. She is survived by her children, Sally Van Dorin (Bob), Randy Whitehead (Karen), six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and numerous extended family. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 9, 2019 at Iconium Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Iconium Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville from 1-6 p.m. with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Memorials in Lorraine's honor can be given to Iconium Methodist Church.
