Lorraine V. Ramos' Obituary
Lorraine V. Ramos, age 85, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of John and Mary (Guzzi) Maletta on February 14, 1929 in Clarkdale, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School and later would graduate from Iowa Nursing School in Iowa City, Iowa.On April 24, 1954, Lorraine was united in marriage to Adrian Ramos in Mystic, Iowa. She was a nurse for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Centerville and was also very active in Public Health in Appanoose County. Over the years, Lorraine helped form the Centerville Community Betterment, Centerville Home Health Care and was instrumental in establishing a Long Term Care within Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was also very active at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, as her faith was a very important part of her life.She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Joe, Robert, Tony, Mike, Louis and John Maletta; sisters, Mary Ranes, Elsie Pontious and Ethel Laurson.Lorraine is survived by: her husband, Adrian Ramos of Centerville, Iowa; her children: Doug Ramos and his wife, Tammy of Omaha, Nebraska, Rita Ramos of Omaha, Nebraska and Richard Ramos and his wife, Barb of Indianola, Iowa; as well as her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Luke Ramos of Omaha, Nebraska and Marissa Ramos of Indianola, Iowa.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, November 3, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. William Hubmann, Fr. Joe Nassel and Fr. Mike Volkmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm and a Rosary Service at 7 pm.Memorials can be made to either St. Mary's Catholic Church or Mercy Medical Center's Long Term Care both in Centerville and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
