Lori Renee Phillips' Obituary
Lori Renee Phillips, age 64, of Sevierville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, as the result of a work-related accident.
Born on May 16, 1962, Lori was the beloved daughter of Howard and Joyce (Beaty) Phillips. Raised with a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors, she attended Centerville High School, where she enjoyed helping around the family farm and spending as much time outside as possible.
After high school, Lori continued her education at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. It was there that she formed a lifelong friendship with a fellow student from Anderson, Indiana, named Sarah. Their bond was so strong that the two friends decided to continue their educational journeys together in Anderson. Lori pursued nursing studies at Anderson University, earning her degree and beginning a career dedicated to caring for others.
Over the years, Lori worked in hospitals in Anderson, Maryville, and Knoxville, touching countless lives through her compassion and dedication. While she valued her nursing career, she eventually found herself longing for work that would allow her to spend more time outdoors and less paperwork. Never one to shy away from hard work, Lori embraced a variety of occupations, including mowing, landscaping, painting, and providing transportation for individuals needing rides to medical appointments.
Lori was known for her determination, independence, and willingness to tackle any challenge that came her way. She was a true go-getter whose energy and work ethic inspired those around her. Yet beyond her hardworking nature was a generous heart. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, often serving others without seeking recognition or reward.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Lori found joy in playing the piano at Wears Valley United Methodist Church in Sevierville, sharing her musical gifts and helping create moments of worship and comfort for her church family.
Whether caring for patients, helping a neighbor, beautifying a landscape, or filling a sanctuary with music, Lori lived a life centered on service. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, friendship, and selfless love that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Lori’s memory are her father, Howard Phillips of Centerville, Iowa; her brother, Brian (Sharon) Phillips of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her sister, Lynette Phillips of Centerville, Iowa; two nephews, Pere and Merlin of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her close friends, Sarah and Judy Hunter; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Lori was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Phillips; as well as numerous family members.
