Lorene Ferrell Buoy Obituary's Obituary
Lorene Ferrell Buoy, daughter of Harry and Effie (Garten) Ferrell, was born January 3, 1915, in Benton Township, Wayne County, Iowa. She passed away August 22, 2012. She attended country grade school, high school and college and was a member of the Methodist Church. Lorene was united in marriage to George Buoy Jr. on June 17th, 1934, and to this union three children were born, Barbara, Janice and George.. Lorene, George and family lived in the south for a number of years and returned to their farm in Clay Township, Wayne County, Iowa, in April, 1967. Her husband, George, passed away in March 1989. Each fall, Lorene would journey to Florida, to be near her children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She resided at 58 Chobee Street, Okeechobee, Florida, and each spring she would return to the farm. She had a business bookkeeping background as an accountant, with the Secretary of Schools, Lynn Haven, Florida, approximately 15 years at Credit Bureau, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Deputy Treasurer of Wayne County, Corydon, Iowa over a period of five years. She was interested and active in community affairs and volunteer work. She was an active member in Allerton Garden Club, Williams Club, and Past Matron of Order of Eastern Star, past member of BPW (Business Professional Women) and Vice Chairman of Farm Bureau Women. Lorene's main interest in life were her children, home making, grandchildren, flower gardening and oil painting.. She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Effie Ferrell, husband George Buoy and grandson Mark Bretz. Sisters, Velma Donald and Bonnie Belanger plus a brother, Wayne E. Ferrell. She is survived by daughter Barbara and husband Billy Bretz of Coconut Creek, Florida, daughter Janice and husband Joseph Menghi of Okeechobee, Florida and son George Buoy and wife Mildred of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Grandchildren: Melodie Bretz Cikmaz, Martin (Joe) Bretz, Michelle Bretz Haefner and Susan Turner Lattimer of Phoenix, Arizona, Jon Turner of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Victoria (Lynn) Turner Parks of Phoenix, Arizona, George (Michael) Buoy, Kristen Buoy and Scott Buoy and nine great-grandchildren,4 great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
