Sorry this is late but I knew Lola my whole adult life. She lived next door to us at 1211 drake in Centerville, Iowa. Used to sit with her occasionally at church when we started going to Methodist church. Deepest Condolences to Lola's family and may she R.I.P. she will be missed

I met Lola, back in the fall of 1955. She was working at the Coast to Coast Store on the north side of the Centerville Square. I was a college student and was hired to work Saturdays, 900 a.m. to 1000 p.m. I got acquainted with Lola right away. She became a good friend and guided me around the store. I was only 17 and it was my first job.A couple years ago my husband and I needed Assisted Living, at Homestead. Lola was there and she remembered me. Yes, she was still could whistle and make lots of bird sounds. I loved her.
What a lady!!!!....fiesty....spunky...sharp as a tack and the best Whistler I ever heard. So enjoyed all the stories while I did her hair!!!!!!...rest well Ms. Lola!!!!!
