Lois Marie Wilson's Obituary
Lois Marie (Martin) Wilson, age 91, of Moravia, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was born on April 30, 1927 in Centerville (Sunshine Coal Camp), Iowa, the daughter of Goldie Pearl (Harrelson) and Benjamin H. Martin. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Jay Lloyd Wilson on May 15, 1952 at the Christian Church in Centerville.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two siblings Cecil and Inez Martin, sister-in-law Mardeena White, two brothers-in-law Trenton Wilson and Edward White, Jr, nephew Greg Martin, and granddaughter, Stacy Ware.
She is survived by her four (4) children Alan Wilson, Linda Ware, Marcia (Dave) Zaputil, and Richard (Rhea) Wilson, eleven grandchildren Michelle (Josh) Thornbrugh, Wesley Wilson, Julie (James) Pitzl, Ryan Wilson, Rachel (Jonathan Mathews) Hoffman, Melanie (Steve) Hawkins, Nathan (Collyn) Ware, Melissa (Jay) Cobler, Stephanie Zaputil, Kaitlyn Wilson, and Cody (Jolee Fenton) Wilson, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law - Doris Wilson, three nieces Janice (Lyle) Goodwin, Candie (Jeff) Jones and Jane (Chuck) Adams, and one nephew Terry (Kathy) White.
In her younger days, while Lois was mainly a full-time housekeeper and mother, she was active in Junior Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Taylor Aid, VFW, and Moravia ETC Club. She was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, Iowa, for many years. Lois loved quilting, reading (especially if it involved medicine), flowers and gardening, but mainly and mostly, she loved and lived for her church and her family. Loiss kitchen was the main gathering place for neighbors, as well as weekly Sunday night suppers for family (and whoever else happened to show up). No one was ever turned away and certainly no one was allowed to go hungry. She loved going to all of her grandkids and great-grandkids activities, covering many miles to watch dance recitals, county fairs, or ballgames. Lois loved each and every one of the new babies welcomed into the family over the years. To her, there was nothing more precious than a baby, and she was always first in line to welcome the newest member of the family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery, Moravia. A visitation will take place Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, with the family greeting friends from 5-8 PM.
