Lois Kelley's Obituary
Lois A. Kelley, 91, of Moravia passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Lois was born to Perry & Martha (Patrick) Cross on June 20, 1926 in Udell, Iowa. She received her eighth grade education from a rural grade school and her GED from Moravia High School. On September 28, 1946 Lois was united in marriage to Russell Kelley. To this union came five children: Sherman, Rodger, Hope, Mark and Judy. Lois had the best job anyone can have, she was a homemaker. She raised the kids while Russell worked outside the home. The two made their home near soap creek in Unionville, Iowa. Lois raised her family on the same farm she moved in to at age 6. She later worked as a cook at Moravia High School until her retirement. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and visiting with friends and family. Lois was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Unionville, la, Order of the Eastern Star, a CB-Club and the Utopian Club. Survivors include four children: Sherman Kelley (Judy), Hope Allen, Mark Kelley (Vicki) Judy Godby (David), 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous extended family. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Kelley; son, Rodger Kelley; son-in-law, Ron Allen, brother's: Burdette, Bob, Donald, John Cross and a sister, Dolly Harvel. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Joan Ervin officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Unionville Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 pm.
