Loal Lorrain Tarbell's Obituary
Loal Tarbell, 93 of Centerville passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Loal was born to Charles & Ella (Eaton) Tarbell on August 15, 1928 in Iconium, Iowa. On April 1, 1951, Loal was united in marriage to Erma "Jeanne" Strickler at the Centerville Church of the Nazarene. To this union came two daughters: Marla and Lorraine.
Loal was a farmer his entire life. He also worked for John Morrell in Ottumwa for a time and would later work for Centerville Schools as a custodian until his retirement in 1990.
Loal was a lifelong member of the Centerville Church of the Nazarene, where he was an usher for over 40 years. He enjoyed working on his farm, taking care of his cattle, joking around with friends and singing parodies of his favorite songs.
Survivors include his children: Marla Tarbell Benton, Lorraine Tarbell Wendland (Jeff), grandchildren: Tara Belloma Wray, Jeremy Belloma (Missy), Scott Belloma (Emily), Derrick Wendland, Brandon Wendland (Lindsey), great grandchildren; Riley Belloma, Lexi Wray, Allie Belloma, Colby Belloma, Emma Belloma, Bennett Belloma, Layton Wendland, two great great grandchildren and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Tarbell, brothers: Truman, Delbert, Mansel and Ivyl Tarbell, sisters: Truis Turner, Veon Ferren, Florene Marlin, Veletta Jolly, Lorelda Frazier, an infant sister, Eva Doralea Tarbell and a son-in-law, David Benton.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia. Interment will immediately follow at Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia with family present from 4-7 pm. Memorials may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
