Lloyd Lee Holmes Obituary's Obituary
Lloyd (Lee) Holmes passed away at the Lucas County Hospital at the age of 80. Lee was born October 9, 1933 in Garden Grove, Iowa, to Roy and Marie (Laughlin) Holmes. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Kathleen, Opal, Gladys, Lorine, and his brothers John and Dick. Lee graduated from Cambria High School in 1951. He served in the army during the Korean conflict for two years. He was a long time member of the Humeston American Legion and at one time, served as Commander. He married Keo Gibbs, on January 22, 1955. Lee and Keo farmed south of Humeston, Iowa, for forty years before retiring to Chariton, Iowa, in 2007. Lee also ran a small AG drainage business for 15 years. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and his parade entries were always a big hit. Lee was a very fun Uncle and the perfect Dad and Grandpa. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Keo (Gibbs) Holmes, children Kenny (Sandy) Holmes of Corydon, Mike Holmes of Knoxville, and Julie (David) Foster of Corydon; grandchildren Chelsey (Ryan) Markel of Iowa City, Delanie Foster of North Liberty, Samantha (Steve) Lexa of Iowa City, Lance Holmes of Des Moines, Taylor Foster of Corydon, Matti Holmes of Council Bluffs, and Abbi Holmes of Knoxville. Other survivors include sister-in-law Juanita Holmes of Slater and brother-in-law, Burl Klinger of Corydon. Memorials may be made to the Cambria Cemetery.
