Lloyd Mathes' Obituary
Lloyd Dain Mathes, age 89 of Exline, Iowa died on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Clarence and Roxie (Shelton) Mathes on June 6, 1927 in Unionville, Missouri. He attend rural country schools in both Iowa and Missouri. Lloyd was united in marriage to Eloise Marvin in Exline, Iowa on August 28, 1948 in Exline, Iowa. He worked in the Construction field and was proud of his work, some of which stands near Rathbun Lake as he took part in building of Rathbun Dam and the spillways. Lloyd served his country honorably in the US Army. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers, Edwin and Nova Dean Mathes; sisters, Goldie Sleeth, Ozetta McElderry and Loeta McElderry; and a grandson, Kenneth Mathes, Jr. Lloyd, is survived by: his wife, Eloise Mathes of Exline, Iowa; sons, Gary Mathes of Centerville, Iowa and Kenneth Mathes of Exline, Iowa; daughters, Karen Vandemark and her husband, David of Centerville, Iowa and Teresa Kirkland and her husband, Darrin of Fremont, Iowa; brothers, Donald Mathes of Centerville, Iowa and Herb Mathes of Exline, Iowa; along with Twelve grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kenneth Glass officiating. Burial with full military honors at the Hilltown Cemetery south of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 till 8 pm. Memorials can be made to the Alzhiemer's Association and can be left or mailed to the Thomas Funeral Home at 501 North 18th - Centerville.
