Lloyd E. Brown's Obituary
Lloyd E. Brown, age 93, of Centerville, Iowa and a former Moravia, Iowa resident, died Saturday, September 11, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of Andy and Sarah (Free) Brown on July 15, 1911 near Iconium, Iowa. He received his education in a Rural Appanoose Country School.On September 12, 1928, Lloyd was united in marriage to Velda Pence in Moravia, Iowa. They farmed for many years in northern Appanoose County near Moravia. He was an active member of the REA (Rural Electric Association) and a member of Farm Bureau for many years. After his farm sale on April 15, 1989, Lloyd moved to Centerville, Iowa. He was a member of the United Brethern Church and Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, Iowa.Lloyd was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Velda Brown in 1985; brothers, Russell and Harry G. Brown; sisters, Marjorie Hough, Margarite Beaty, Birdie Main and Osca Brown; great grandchildren, Elisa and Angela Brown and Sara Taccone; son-in-law, Bill Parson.He is survived by his children, Dorothy Parson of Trumbull, Connecticut and Jerry Brown and his wife, Rita of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa, with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa following the service.
