Linda White's Obituary
Linda Sue (Clark) White was born on July 25, 1943 to Archie Marion Clark and Elva Lorraine (Hull) Clark. She departed this life on December 24, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She was the youngest of 10 children; two brothers who departed this life before her birth and seven sisters who welcomed her into their lives. Being the youngest of eight surviving siblings, Linda was an aunt before her birth. She never lacked playmates or sisters to spoil her. Linda was born and lived out her youth in a small house on Main Street in Seymour, Iowa. You could always count on her to tell you who had lived where and who their family members were. She was an honorary member of the SCHS Class of 1962 who continued to welcome her to their events even though she was one year shy of graduating. In 1964, Linda was united in marriage to Harold Floyd White and to this union, three children were born: Penny (Jerry) Fetters of Seymour, Iowa, Eric (Sheri) White of Bloomfield, Iowa and John (Mandy) White of Centerville, Iowa. The couple were also blessed to welcome a special daughter, Barbara (Pierce) Wray into their lives who brought a special bond of love and caring into their home, claiming her as their own. Harold and Linda lived in Davenport, Iowa in their early years where Linda held various jobs such as a waitress and working in a dry cleaner. After their marriage, she became a full-time mother and devoted all of her efforts to maintaining her home. During this time, they opened their home to family so that they might finish their educations. Linda was a firm believer in helping others. Her heart knew no bounds and was open to all. In 1968, they returned to Seymour and Linda worked for Neely Manufacturing where she quickly developed numerous friendships with many coworkers. In approximately 1974, Linda changed career paths and became a CNA. From there, she would go on to assist with physical therapy and become an Activities Coordinator, working at both the Seymour Care Center and Golden Age Manor in Centerville, Iowa. Working with the elderly gave her an avenue for her boundless love and compassion. At the age of 38, Linda received her GED and went to Indian Hills Community College to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing degree (LPN). Throughout her nursing career, she worked at care centers, hospitals and clinics. This was her true calling as she loved caring for others. She briefly returned to factory work; working at Siemens Manufacturing in Osceola with her sister, Donna. Her pastimes were reading, caring for numerous outdoor birds and her special peacock, which she cared for faithfully, every day, right down to baking his favorite pumpkin bread! Linda was a loving, nurturing soul who loved her family. Her favorite roles were Grandma and Great-Grandma. You never left her table without food, guidance or an encouraging word. She loved spending time with family and friends and always had open arms for anyone who needed them. Those arms will be truly missed. She lost her husband, Harold, on January 20, 2006 and met Lowell (Junior) Holmes, with whom she shared 12 years of companionship. Lowell preceded her in death on December 2, 2019. Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant child; sisters: Sarah (Arthur) Snook, Helen (Jim) Clark, Dorothy Collins, Mary Lou Casey and Betty (Claude) Engle as well as brothers-in-law: George Dutton and Don Jellison. Left to mourn her passing are her children: Penny (Jerry) Fetters, Eric (Sheri) White, and John (Mandy) White, sisters, Virginia Jellison and Donna Dutton; grandchildren: Dustin White, Lynette (Quentin) Jacobsen, Donna White, Bailee White, Karly White, Demi White, Zachary White, Christopher (Kristen) Wray, Sarah Wray, Joshua Wray, Bradley Benson, Branden Benson, Katelyn (Jacob) Snow, Kayla Benson, Christopher Lee and Anthony Lee, as well as 18 great grandchildren.
