Linda Proctor's Obituary
Linda Proctor, age 66 of Melrose, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at her home.
Linda was born December 10, 1948 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Dorman and Jean (Hammond) Irwin. She graduated from Moravia High School in 1967.
She was united in marriage to Jim Proctor on November 23, 1982 in Savannah, Georgia.
Linda was a hard worker throughout her lifetime. Her first job was at Chamberlain's Manufacturing Company in Albia, Iowa. Subsequently, she went to work for Monroe Plastics in Albia for nearly four years. Eventually, she became employed at Chicago Rivet and Machine Company in Albia. Linda was a machinist and mill operator for the company for nearly thirty eight years, until her retirement.
She was known to be a great cook and thoroughly enjoyed preparing Sunday meals for her family. Linda also loved gardening and maintaining her flowers. Her family has stated that she always kept a clean home with an immaculate presence.
Linda is survived by her father, Dorman Irwin of Centerville, Iowa; her husband, Jim Proctor of Melrose, Iowa; two children, Amy Jo (Jeff) Coffin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Krystal Elliott (significant other, Josh) of Hiawatha, Iowa; two grandchildren, Abby Jean Fett and Stetson Elliott; a twin brother, Larry (Cathy) Irwin of The Villages, Florida; two nephews, Todd Irwin of Solon, Iowa and Eric (Kristy) Irwin of Johnston, Iowa; and two special friends, Ginny Smead of Hiteman, Iowa and Ruthie Thomas of Albia, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Irwin.
An open visitation will be held at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 9 am-3 PM, with the family greeting friends from 1-3 pm. Cremation will follow the visitation. Inurnment of the cremains will take place at a later date in the Brushy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either HCI (Formerly Hospice of Central Iowa) or to the Family of Linda Proctor and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
