Linda Matkovich's Obituary
Linda Matkovich, age 60, died April 27, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
Linda was born September 8, 1946, the daughter of Michael ""Mark"" and Teresa (Chebuhar) Matkovich in Centerville, Iowa. Linda graduated from Centerville High School, Indian Hills and then U.N.I. with high honors. She taught for Government and Social Studies at Marshalltown Schools for 36 years where she was also a cheerleader advisor. She retired in 2004. She loved gardening, mowing and sitting on the deck with her family and also had a love for penguins and beautiful flowers. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, National Iowa Education Association.
Linda is survived by her mother, Teresa Matkovich; siblings, Mark Makovich of Blue Grass, Iowa, Steve (Des) Matkovich of East Moline, Iowa, Susan Matkovich of Edmond, Oklahoma; an uncle, Jim (Catherine) Chebuhar of Ottumwa, Iowa; nieces, Amy and Emily Matkovich; great nieces and nephews, Katie, Mathew and Madison Matkovich all of Port Byron, Illinois; best friends, Avon, Andrea, Alice, Miriam, Linda, Mary, Thelma and Jessie and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Matkovich.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 11:30 AM Monday, April 30, 2007 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Ron Will C.PP.S. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 6 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, with family present for a visitation from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.
