Lila Mae Baldwin's Obituary
Lila Mae Baldwin (nee Kirlin), 92, born on October 7, 1931, in Torrington, WY, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Cedar Trails Senior Living in Freeburg, IL.
Lila was a member of the Quilters' Guild and worked for charitable unions making quilts and blankets for patients on hospice. She also made pillows and bags for wounded warriors and provided blankets to babies born with AIDS at local hospitals. Lila started a genealogical library in Battle Creek and did history research for families. She started two libraries with her own books. Along with being an avid reader and quilter, Lila gardened, canned, and did a lot of work within her church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Nellie Electra Kirlin (nee Hedglin); her husband, Ellis J. Baldwin; three sisters, Curly Abel, Toots Bayless, and Dut Lovitt; and one grandchild, Joseph Baldwin.
Lila is survived by her children; Ira "Lee" (Donnie) Baldwin of Sedalia, MO, Karen (Alan) Myers of Ogden, Utah, and Cindy (Greg) Hoebing of O'Fallon, IL; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Tribble, Heather (Corey) McKean, Danielle (William) Thorne, and Jessica (Brody) Allen; and 8 great grandchildren.
Per the family's request, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home in O'Fallon, Illinois and to Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.
