Lila Faye Allred's Obituary
Lila Faye (Adair) Allred, age 78, passed away at Corydon Specialty in Corydon, Iowa on April 16, 2025.
Lila came in to this world on July 8th, 1946 in Decatur County, Iowa by her parents Clifford and Mildred (Hagen) Adair. She joined the family with an older sister Linda Owens (Adair). Later on, she welcomed the arrival of 3 other siblings, Mike, Colene and https://Gloria.She attended school in Leon and graduated in 1964. She prided herself on her good grades.
Later that year she was united in marriage to Lyle Allred on December 5th 1964 and moved to Cambria, Iowa to a house they called home until 1981. They brought two sons into this world, Danny and Terry. In 1981 they moved to the family farm where she was living at the time of her passing on April 16th 2025.
Lila kept busy over the years helping out on the family farm and raising her two boys. She was employed for a short time by Wayne Community School as a teachers aid at the Cambria school building. Later on, she worked at a furniture store in Corydon, then attended some classes to learn about computers. She also spent some time employed at the Pamida store in Corydon, was a donut maker at Casey's in Humeston, and the Clarke County NRCS/FSA office briefly. She was a good book keeper and kept a tidy house. You didn't dare walk in with your boots on unless it was an emergency.
She was a good cook and enjoyed feeding everyone that came to help out at the farm or showed up for family https://gatherings.She enjoyed reading and keeping up with her friends and relatives on social media. She enjoyed pictures and had many pictures saved in albums and on her phone.
In 1990 she enjoyed the arrival of her first grandchild Tessa. A couple years later in 1992 she got another grandchild named Bronson. Both of them are children of Danny and Sandy Allred of Corydon. She enjoyed spending time with them.
Lila is survived by her husband of 60 years Lyle; children, Danny (Sandy) Allred, Terry Allred; grandchildren, Tessa (Kevin) Mills, Bronson (Ali) Allred; great-grandchildren, Rook, Royer and Sutton Allred, Harper and Ellis Mills; siblings, Colene, Gloria and Linda along with many extended friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law's Wallace and Peggy Allred, her mother and father, Mildred and Clifford Adair, a nephew Richard Owens, her brother Mike Adair, a sister-in-law, some brother in laws and some close friends and other relatives.
Funeral Services for Lila will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, IA with a luncheon to follow with Inurnment after at the Cambria Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials in honor of Lila may be made to the family to be determined at a later date and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Allred Family 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, Iowa 50060.
