Lester Clayton Cook's Obituary
Lester C. Cook, age 87, originally of Exline, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
He was born on February 21, 1934 in Exline, Iowa, the son of Emmett and Zelma (Thomasson) Cook. Lester was raised on the family farm in Exline. Farming was his true passion and he enjoyed the many opportunities it presented to him throughout his lifetime.
He worked for many years at Sundstrand in Rockford, Illinois. Lester also spent a period of time working in the electrical field while residing in Rockford. In retirement, Lester relocated to Summersville, Missouri, where he resided for several years. In 2014, Lester moved back to Southern Iowa, where he became a resident of Centerville.
An outdoorsman throughout his lifetime, Lester enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to honor his memory include his three sisters, Cletha Daugherty of Rockford, Illinois, Anna (Ben) Wheeler of Queen City, Missouri, and Helen (Willard) Seddon of Mystic, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Zelma Cook; a brother, Leslie Cook; stillborn twin brothers; and two nephews, Larry Schroeder and Wayne Cook.
According to Lesters wishes, cremation has been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Zoar Cemetery, south of Exline, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Zoar Cemetery and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
