Leonard L. Showers' Obituary
Leonard Showers, age 81, formerly of Centerville died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Pella Regional Hospital, Pella, Iowa.
Leonard was born December 31, 1923 the son of Lon and Janet (Blair) Showers in Mystic, Iowa. They preceded him in death. He married Catherine Fitzgerald on November 16, 1963 in Knoxville, Iowa. After high school, Leonard joined the Navy and is a veteran of World War II. Leonard worked at and retired from the VA Hospital in Knoxville. Leonard enjoyed all kinds of hunting, including ""rock hunting,"" and fishing.
He is survived by his two children, son Kenneth and his wife Tanya Showers of Knoxville, Iowa, daughter Karen and her husband Shaun Elsbernd of Waterloo, Iowa; Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Erica and her husband Andrew Little of Beacon, Iowa, Courtney Elsbernd of Waterloo, Iowa, and Cory Elsbernd of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 great grandchildren, Connor and Abbyagale Little of Beacon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine, two brothers, Johnny and Junior Showers, and a sister, Lucille Wright.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday with the family present from 6- 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Mystic.
