Leona M. Logsdon's Obituary
Leona Logsdon, age 80, of Cincinnati, Iowa died Friday February 26, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville.
Leona was born on April 15, 1929 in the Lincoln Township of Putnam County, Missouri, the daughter of George and Bessie (Jump) Heyl. Growing up on the family farm, Leona worked alongside her father to complete the farm chores. She later worked in the Mendota and Cincinnati Community Churches as a Pastor's wife.
Leona had a deep love for her family. She enjoyed caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. In her free time, Leona liked preparing family and church dinners, rescuing orphaned baby animals, gardening, canning, reading, and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Donnel Logsdon of Cincinnati, Iowa; four children, Evelee (Jerome) Prokes of Cincinnati, Iowa, Leatha (Mark) Walsh of Omaha, Missouri, Annette (Brett) Sinclair of Exline, Iowa, and Timothy Logsdon of Chariton, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; son Mark Logsdon; a grandson Robert Lee Exline; four brothers, Clell, Theodore, Henry, and Junior Heyl; and a sister Lena Heyl.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Oscar Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Monday at Lange Funeral Home from 1-8 PM, with the family present from 6-8 PM.
