LEO WAYNE RICHARDSON Leo Wayne Richardson passed away February 12, 2011 at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 24 days. He was born November 19, 1928 in Valentine, Nebraska to George and Emma (Lurz) Richardson. He grew up on farms around the area. Early years were spent as a ranch hand on neighboring ranches. In 1950 he was drafted into the U. S. Army. He spent time in Japan and Korea as a truck driver and received an honorable discharge in 1952. On August 28, 1953 he married Inez Newland in Valentine, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born, John Wayne and Ralph Leroy. He worked on ranches till 1962. He then moved to Valentine and worked as a butcher at Cox Butcher Shop. In the fall of 1965 they purchased a farm near Lineville, Iowa and moved there in 1966. Due to health problems he entered the Corydon Nursing Home in 2009. He is survived by his wife Inez, their two sons John and wife Marcine of Pleasantville, Iowa and Ralph and wife Karen of Clio, Iowa, four grandchildren Amy, Amber, Troy and Maxwell. Other survivors include his sisters Pauline and husband Richard Pilkington of Springview, Nebraska and Emily and husband Dean Bartlett of David City, Nebraska, brother Tom and wife Mary Richardson of Hershey, Nebraska, brothers-in-law Henry Newland of Valentine, Nebraska, and Dick Osburn of Cairo, Nebraska, Glen Newland and wife Marla and Wilbur Newland of Ravena, Nebraska, sisters-in-law Barb Richardson of Lineville, Iowa, Letha Bartlett of Alda, Nebraska, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, parents-in-law, two sisters Betty Harp and husband Kenneth and Francis Newland, two brothers George and Henry Richardson, sister-in-law Louise Osburn, brother-in-law Gene Bartlett and nephew David Richardson. He enjoyed going to farm and livestock auctions, but his biggest joy was his farm, and his grandchildren.
