Lenora Margaret Burnett's Obituary
Lenora Margaret (Kauzlarich) Burnett, age 95, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Homestead Assisted Living in Centerville, Iowa.
Lenora was born the daughter of Matt and Katherine (Briskey) Kauzlarich on May 23, 1927 in Cincinnati, Iowa. She attended the Cincinnati, Iowa school system, graduating from high school in 1944. Afterwards, she moved to Des Moines (age 17), where she worked for two years.
On August 10, 1946, Lenora married Richard Burnett at St. Mary's Church in Centerville. After ten years as a homemaker, she began working at Uniform Printing (8 years) and Union Carbide/Viskase (27 years) until she retired in 1991.
Lenora's interests were listening to music, dancing and visiting with her family, of whom she was very proud. She was a great baker, and enjoyed gardening and keeping a beautiful yard.
As an active member of St. Mary's Church, she sang in the choir, embroidered baptismal garments, enjoyed Ladies of St. Mary's activities and served on the Croatian Fest Committee, where she taught ethnic dancing and baked many delicious desserts.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Celine) Burnett of Dayton, Ohio; her daughter, Mary Kay (Paul) Vinton of Ovilla, Texas; her grandchildren, Patrick (Maritza) Vinton, John (Chelsea) Vinton, and Jennifer (Daniel) Moreno, all of Texas, Matt (Tina) Burnett and Tom (Nancy) Burnett of Pennsylvania, Greg (Hayley) Burnett, and Angela (Matt) Bartosic of Ohio, and Ken (Lauren) Burnett of Georgia. She also had 16 cherished great-grandchildren who celebrated her 95th birthday at her Centerville home months before her passing.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Katherine Kauzlarich and her sister, Mary Micetich.
Mom, you truly were the "Matriarch of the family" and fulfilled the role with grace and honor. Rest in peace.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville from 2-4PM, and Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 10-11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM, Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Timothy Armbruster officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Memorials in honor of Lenora may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Burnett Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
