Leland Davis' Obituary
Leland Davis, 92 of Moulton, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. Leland Samuel Davis was born on March 5, 1928 to Lloyd and Velta (Ransom) Davis in Moulton, Iowa. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1945. On August 12, 1956, Leland was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cora Mae Thomas. Together, they raised 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys. Farming was Leland's lifeblood. He and Cora Mae worked side-by-side on their farm for many years. He was proud of his Hereford cattle and Allis-Chalmers tractors. His children remember how, every fall, the family rounded up the cattle and drove them home. So many came together, on foot and on horseback, and although it wore out all who helped, those memories are cherished by everyone involved. Leland would always say, "To have good have neighbors you have to be a good neighbor," and the cattle drive always proved just how many good neighbors surrounded the Davis family. Everyone knew Leland's friendly face around Moulton as he could oftentimes be found at Daniels' Station and the Store. He enjoyed working with his beloved horses, listening to country music, and loved attending the sporting events of his grandkids. Leland was a proud veteran of the Army and frequented the American Legion in Moulton. His daughter Connie recalls fond memories of her father: "He always treated his grandkids like his own children. Mallory and Lexi always called him â??dad.' Mallory remembers sitting on his lap eating oranges in the morning. Dad was always the greeter and made sure to offer drinks or snacks." Survivors include his children Donna Lee (Tom) Belloma, Jo Ellen (Jack) Replogle, Sherry Lynn (Bryan) Horn, Connie Marie Herteen, Robert Thomas (Theresa) Davis, Lori Ann (Jeff) Krall, 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, his sister, Lucille Wood- Bird; sister-in-law, Joan Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cora Mae; sons Jim Davis & Raymond Davis; siblings Doris Wilson, Donald, Roland & Max Davis, Lois & Neal Fox, Leora & Don Whisler, Vera & Bob White, Eileen Fowler, and brothers-in-law Hugh B. Wood, Frank Bird, and Jack Fowler.
