Lee Williams' Obituary
Lee Junior Williams, 75, of Centerville, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Lee was born to Lee and Jewell (Brown) Williams on January 31, 1942 in Ava, Missouri. Lee received his education from Ava Schools. Throughout his life, Lee worked for McGraw Edison as Forman for years in Centerville, and moved with the company when it moved to Illinois. Lee was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. He was in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. His love was old time country music and was self-taught on the guitar and played by ear since the age of sixteen. He played at the Rathbun Country Music Theater from 1972 to 1976. Lee was in two bands: "The Mavericks" and the "Mason Dixie Line". His band once opened for Barbra Mandrell. Lee loved to sit around playing guitar and singing with family and friends, sharing his love of music. He enjoyed meeting new people and didn't know a stranger. He especially enjoyed playing and singing songs with new friends. His love for his family was abundant. Nothing pleased him more than to get all of them together and just visit and sing songs. He would entertain the kids with his guitar skills. His children were his life and he would do anything for them. Survivors include two children: Theresa Repp (Richard Cavin) of Centerville and Christopher Williams of Centerville; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings: Robert Williams (Bea) of Cincinnati, Iowa, Marcy Buckallew (Gary) of Centerville, Yvonne Sacco of Centerville and Nyla Fowler (Danny) of Cincinnati, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Billy Ray Williams, Rose Marie Williams, Shirley Starbuck, Thelma Hicks and Mozella Blackmon. Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville. Interment will be at a later date in Whites Creek Cemetery in Ava, Missouri.
