LaVern Wages, age 64, of Exline, Iowa died Thursday, April 19, 2007 in Davenport, Iowa.
LaVern was born on June 3, 1942, the son of LeRoy and Edna (Cline) Wages in Exline, Iowa. LaVern grew up in Exline and attended Exline Schools. He was a truck driver for much of his life, along with working for Joiner and Cicco Construction Companies. LaVern enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, hanging out with friends, mushroom hunting, and farming. He was always known as the ""biggest joker in town."" LaVern was baptized a week before Easter.
LaVern is survived three children, Tammy (Lynn) Neff of Batavia, Iowa, Jason Wages (fiancee Nicole Dixson) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kevin (Susan) Cubbage of Fairfield, Iowa; four sisters, Evelyn Henderson of Exline, Iowa, Marilyn Sherbonda of Davenport, Iowa, Jinnie (Steve) Weggen of Davenport, Iowa, and Diane (Everett) Lamb of Davenport, Iowa; three brothers, LeRoy (Jean) Wages of Nevada, Gary (Diane) Wages of Bethany, Missouri, and Wendell Wages of Exline, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Carletta West, Juanita Carlstrom, and Shirley Bennett Herring; and a baby sister Eva June Wages.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Howard Luscan officiating. Burial will follow in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with the family present from 4-6 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to Tammy Neff, 2351 Cedar Avenue, Batavia, Iowa 52533.
