Laura "Jean" Martin's Obituary
Laura 'Jean' Martin, age 84, of Moravia, Iowa, died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa She was born the daughter of Paul and Vesta (Whicker) Oehler on January 15, 1920 in Moravia, Iowa. She received her education from Moravia Community Schools. On October 5, 1935, Jean was united in marriage to Max A. Martin in Chariton, Iowa. Jean was a Homemaker all her life as well as a member of VFW Auxiliary in Moravia. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Max A. Martin on April 24, 1995; her son, Larry Martin on December 13, 2003; and brother, Leon Oehler.Jean is survived by: her son, Terry Martin of Arispe, Iowa; two daughters, Joyce and her husband, Donald Dicks of Plano, Iowa and Judy and her husband, Richard Hawk of Moravia, Iowa; her sister Madeline Bailey of Centerville, Iowa; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Laurie Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2004 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.
