Larry D. Ruckman's Obituary
Larry Ruckman, 56, of Centerville passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home in Centerville. Larry was born on June 15, 1957 in Mt. Ayr to Richard & Sue (Terwilliger) Ruckman. He received his education from Centerville High School graduating in 1975. After high school he attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville. On January 22, 1977, Larry was united in marriage to Peggy Deahl. Larry was employed by ISU, IES and Alliant Energy for 32 years. He enjoyed restoring old cars, gardening, bow hunting, attending NASCAR races (Go - Dale Jr.) and taking his grandchildren fishing in the pond behind his house. Larry also enjoyed watching reality TV shows. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He volunteered at the Centerville Wine Fest on a yearly basis and at Pancake Day getting the grills hooked up. Larry is survived by his wife Peggy of Centerville, three children: Paul (Jennifer) Ruckman of Keota, Ia, Angela (Jamie) Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, Becky Salstrand and Maurice Crowe of Elmer, Missouri, nine grandchildren: Hayley and Dylan Ruckman, Danny and Brooklyn Brown, Taylor and Ellie Salstrand, Gavin, Seth and Leah Crowe, mother, Sue Ruckman of Branson, Missouri, niece, Ryannan Ruckman, two siblings: Chris Ruckman of Centerville and Karen Ruckman of Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father Richard and in-laws; Billy and Twila Deahl. Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later date.
