Larry Roland's Obituary
Larry Roland, 57, of Drakesville passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Davis County Hospital. Larry was born in Knoxville, Iowa to Everett & Mary (Spencer) Roland on June 15, 1958. He received his education from Knoxville Schools. On April 18, 1980, Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Russell. To this union were two children, David and Bryan. Larry was an independent contractor leased to Diamond Transportation and has always worked in the trucking industry. When Larry was away from work, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was the family jokester and enjoyed teasing the kids. Larry also enjoyed drag racing, hunting and fishing. During football season, he loved to set down and watch his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers play. Survivors include his wife Sharon of Drakesville, two children: David Roland (Erika) of Colorado Springs, Co., Bryan Roland of Colorado Springs, Co., two grandchildren: Maddux and Alyssa Roland of Colorado Springs, three siblings: Sandy Goemaat (Jerry) of Melcher-Dallas, Linda O'Brien (Randy Clarke) of Knoxville, Ronnie Roland (Sue) of Oskaloosa and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Norma Buck, Darlene Pettijohn, Barbara Pettijohn and Merril Roland. Per his wishes, Larry has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. His ashes will be laid to rest at Drakesville Cemetery at a later date.
