Larry D Roberts' Obituary
Larry Dwayne Roberts, age 86 of Adel, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home with family on March 19, 2026.
Larry was born on May 30, 1939 in Drakesville, Iowa to Ralph and Maxine (Burtch) Roberts. He graduated from Moravia High School with the class of 1957.
Throughout his life, Larry was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Roberts Brownbilt shoe store, with the motto "Where feet and fashion meet", in Muscatine, Iowa. He sold this business and started Excel Realty in Muscatine before moving to Arizona. Larry moved back to Central Iowa, wanting to be closer to family, and worked at Granger Motors with his son Steve, for several years and then part time in retirement.
Larry attended church at De Soto Calvary Baptist Church, and was very faithful. His voice could be heard singing hymns from his favorite pew. Larry loved America, was proud of his country and was always willing to discuss conservative politics. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs.
Those left to honor Larry's memory are his wife of 39 years, Sherry Roberts(Symmonds); his children, Kevin (LeAnne)Roberts, Mark (Laura) Roberts, and daughter-in-law, Karla Roberts; his stepchildren, Kim (Hector) Castillo, Leanna (Scott) Schmelzer, Troy Payne, and Nicole Davis; his siblings, Ronald (Ann) Roberts, Gary Roberts, John (Karla) Roberts, and Joan (Jim) Hale, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles and Earl; his sister, Joyce; his son, Steven Roberts and his daughter, Kim Roberts.
