Larry Lancial's Obituary
Larry Lester Lancial, age 72 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born in Albia, Iowa to Floyd Lester and Grace Irene (McLaughlin) Lancial on January 14, 1943. Larry graduated from Albia High School, with the class of 1961.
He entered the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado on December 14, 1968. Larry served his country faithfully in two Vietnam tours, retiring with the rank of Sergeant from the Army on June 24, 1974.
In his earlier years, Larry enjoyed his position as an over the road trucker. He also spent a period time in road construction. Furthermore, he spent many years enjoying the work he endured on his pig farm.
Larry was first united in marriage to Carolyn McCombs and to this marriage, they had one child, Jackie. Larry was later united in marriage to Esther Leona Waldron in the 1970s and to this union, five children were born, Tina, Tami, Kimberly, Andy and Audrey. Larry and Esther spent many wonderful years together raising their family.
He enjoyed cookouts with his family. Larry also enjoyed watching professional wrestling on the television with his grandchildren. He also spent many years hauling the Amish to their desired locations. Larry was known by many to be a ""handy man"" when it came to fixing cars and lawnmowers.
Larry is survived by his five children, Jackie (Mike) Wilkins of Melcher Dallas, Iowa, Tina Walker of Waukee, Iowa, Tami Lancial of Centerville, Iowa, Andy (Brenda) Lancial of Centerville, Iowa and Audrey (Del) Conn of Centerville, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren, Christa Lancial, Dustin Lancial, Robert Bryan, Lisa Wilkins, Nathan Walker, Anthony Lancial, Jordan Green, Austin Wilkins, Ronnie Wilkins, Brianah Walker, Clover Conn, Skie Conn, Leighton Williams, Aden Lancial, Braden Lancial and Raymond Conn; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Callen of Des Moines, Iowa and Nancy McFarland of Hiteman, Albia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther Leona Lancial; and a daughter, Kimberly LeeAnn Lancial.
Funeral services with military rites will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Becky Conn officiating. Interment will follow in the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. A visitation will be held from 11 AM-1 PM on Wednesday at Lange Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be mailed directly to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
